offshore wind export credit support

Impact

By supporting exporters and banks and making transactions financeable, export credit insurance contributes to development objectives in the Netherlands and abroad.

The value of export credit insurance

Export credit insurance enables international projects that would often be difficult to finance without public support. In addition, on behalf of the State, we pursue an ambitious incentive agenda focused on innovation for the transition to a climate‑neutral economy, strategic autonomy, and strengthening the competitiveness of the Dutch business sector.

Impact in the Netherlands

Through our insurance products, we not only support export revenues but also contribute to economic growth, employment, and the advancement of knowledge and innovation within the Netherlands. Moreover, export support enhances the position of Dutch companies within international value chains and reinforces the technological and economic resilience of the Netherlands

Impact abroad

Dutch export transactions can contribute significantly to broader global development objectives.

Projects in areas such as energy, water management, transport, food security, and healthcare may, for instance, foster economic growth, employment, improved access to essential services, and the enhancement of local productive capacity in the countries in which they are implemented.

Moreover, certain export transactions may contribute to global climate goals and other environmental objectives.

Balancing economic growth and sustainability

Public export support requires a careful and deliberate balancing of economic opportunities and environmental and social considerations. Atradius DSB endeavours to support projects that generate economic value while simultaneously contributing to sustainable development objectives.

Environmental, social, and governance considerations are systematically integrated into our assessment processes, ensuring that potential adverse impacts are identified at an early stage and effectively mitigated where possible. (link to compliance en E&S policy)

Monitoring and transparency

The impact of export credit insurance continues to evolve over time. Economic developments, technological innovation, and international societal and strategic objectives collectively shape the export finance instrument.

Atradius DSB publishes an annual review on the composition and impact of its portfolio, thereby providing insights into the ways in which export credit insurance contributes to national and global policy objectives. (link to annual overview) (link to year review)

SDG's

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consist of seventeen goals, which together embody the global sustainable development agenda for 2030. Since 2019, we have been reporting on the potential positive and negative contributions to the various SDGs in recipient countries for all insured transactions (ekv, DGGF, and DTIF).

We measure and report the potential negative and positive impacts of our transactions annually in our annual report.
