European companies often have promising ideas for investments outside Europe in emerging economies, which are beneficial to both the Member States of the European Union (EU) and the countries in which the investments are made. The EU wants to support these ideas. That is why the EU has opened a channel for companies to submit proposals: the Global Gateway Investment Hub. From Monday 2 February 2026, Dutch companies will be able to submit proposals via the Dutch Team National for the Hub. Team National is a partnership between Invest International, RVO, FMO, Atradius Dutch State Business, VNO-NCW and the Dutch government for the Hub. The Team supports Dutch companies in developing proposals and submits them to the EU. Team National was launched on Monday in the presence of EU Director-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) Koen Doens and the Dutch Team National organisations. ‘The EU needs to invest more globally. We need to make more of an impact. The business community can do this. Dutch companies are taking the lead,’ said Koen Doens.
Business as the cornerstone of the EU's integrated foreign policy: Global Gateway
Today's turbulent world calls for an integrated foreign policy for the EU and the Netherlands in which diplomacy, trade and international cooperation reinforce each other. A world of partnerships in which the interests of EU Member States and countries outside the EU come together in large-scale projects. This strengthens the EU's position worldwide. That is the core of the EU's Global Gateway strategy. The business community plays a pivotal role in Global Gateway. It enables impact on a large scale. Impact that is good for European Member States such as the Netherlands and the countries outside the EU in which investments are made, with a specific focus on emerging economies. That is why there is now a single point of contact for companies to submit proposals that contribute to the objectives of Global Gateway: the Investment Hub. Through this point of contact, companies are guided towards a suitable EU support mechanism, such as loans, insurance, guarantees or technical assistance. The Hub is therefore a referral mechanism. Member States make an initial selection of proposals. This is done in the Team National.

Dutch Team National for the Global Gateway Investment Hub launched
The Netherlands is actively involved in implementing the Global Gateway strategy. Various Dutch companies are already contributing to Global Gateway projects and achieving concrete results. For example, work is underway on a trade corridor in Angola. This will enable the EU to tap into new markets, give European consumers greater security of supply and create local employment in African countries. In November 2025, DG INTPA Koen Doens put the first refrigerated container of avocados from Angola on the boat to the EU. Part of the shipment has been processed into high-quality avocado oil. DG INTPA received this today in The Hague. With this handover, the Dutch Team National for the EU's Investment Hub was launched.
How does it work for Dutch companies?
For more information about Global Gateway and the Investment Hub, Dutch companies can contact RVO. Here, companies can also find more information about submitting proposals, which Team National will assess for suitability and feasibility in accordance with EU criteria.
