DRIVE is the successor to the ORIO program. It is a scheme set up by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This scheme is managed by Invest International and aims to financially support public infrastructure projects in developing countries.
The DRIVE scheme offers significant benefits to both developing countries and Dutch exporters. By stimulating investment in public infrastructure, DRIVE promotes economic and social development in emerging markets. Dutch exporters benefit by gaining access to new markets with less risk.
Founded by the Dutch government,Invest International plays a crucial role in financing projects that promote sustainable development in emerging markets and developing countries.Within the DRIVE program, Invest International determines which infrastructure projects are eligible for grants and can also offer additional financing.
Since the DRIVE grant is usually not sufficient to fully finance a project, we can underwrite the payment risks for the additional financing. We cover the financing when Dutch exporters are involved in these projects. This enables financiers to provide the necessary support, ensuring the implementation of these crucial projects.
The DRIVE grant can be used as a grant over the contract amount, to reduce interest costs, to reduce export credit insurance premiums, or to take over initial repayments from the debtor. This makes projects more attractive to both exporters and debtor.
