We ensure that your export contract or its financing is optimally structured to manage both commercial and political risks.
Your application is a document, to apply for cover. Often before that, we are already discussing with you and your bank the best financial structure for your export transaction. We recommend that you already involve us in your proposed transaction during negotiations with your client. After all, there are several ways to structure it. We are happy to help you find the best structure.
Upon receipt of your request, we will map out the risks and the information required to assess them. We always do this in consultation with you and your bank. We will keep you informed of progress throughout the process. In many cases we will need (financial) information from you about your company and/or your customer. The application can be processed more quickly if you include the available information (such as annual reports, credit reports and CSR information) at the time of application.
Promise of cover and insurance policy
If we find the risks acceptable, you will receive a promise of cover valid for six months. This means that we will insure you if your contract comes into effect. At that time, we will give you the insurance policy. You can extend the commitment for six months at no charge. For further extensions we charge 0.05% of the maximum compensation (MS) per 6 months.
You can download the application form from our website. Since we do not see the export contract, we ask you to fill in the most important information from the contract on the form. This helps us get a good idea of the risk and the transaction.
Approval and processing time
In many cases, we will be able to approve your application ourselves. For larger and more complex transactions, the application is submitted to our Insurance Committee for approval. This includes representation from the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs. We do our best to process applications within four to six weeks. Smaller and simple applications can usually be processed more quickly.
